FAQ

All Vision3-based films without a remjet layer are very sensitive to external conditions. Especially to light and temperature. As it turned out, HAS65 200D is extremely sensitive, especially when it comes to high temperatures and therefore unfortunately not suitable for daily use, like Kodak Gold or Colorplus.
It should be treated as a specialist film for advanced photographers. Fresh 200D can give excellent results if it was kept in the fridge all the time and used in the camera for a maximum of several days, in optimal conditions (not exposed to high temperatures).
HAS65 200D is absolutely not recommended as a film for holidays, especially during heatwaves.
HAS65 400T tolerates external conditions a little better, but it should also be handled very gently.

On the other hand, being aware of the above, you can treat HAS65 films as specific effect films. The worse we treat them, the more interesting and unpredictable the effects we can get.
What to expect? The first thing that can happen with 200D film is that the negative mask (film base) will change color from pink-amber to intense pink under the influence of temperature. In most cases you won’t notice much difference in scans, such film will still give nice pictures, but sometimes with poorly exposed frames you may see green tints in the blacks. The longer the film is exposed to high temperatures, the more the mask color will change. When it reaches a deep red color, the colors in the scans will be very distorted, although this can be corrected a bit in post-production. Also, keeping the film in the camera for a long time, exposing it to light and high temperatures, will cause more artifacts – leaks.

It is absolutely safe. Any dirt that is created when removing the remjet layer concerns the photosensitive emulsion and may result in discoloration on scans. However, the remjet itself is removed 100%.

Vision3 motion picture film is quite unique and has a high tolerance for exposure errors, and as a result, you can change ISO almost like in digital camera within the given range. Of course, this requires some practice, and sometimes some corrections will be needed in post-production. And treat ISO 200 or 400 as a base when you don’t want to experiment.

I don’t foresee any in the near future. I would love to, but it is logistically complicated and requires a lot of financial outlay. To get Vision3 film in 65mm format, you have to order a larger quantity directly from the US. Then you have to cut the 65mm film to fit the 120 format. For now, it’s beyond me.
